Moving into Rural Ontario... and Ending with Bunk Beds

DAY 5 on the Road to Yellowknife:
Val d'Or, QC to Kapuskasing, ON (447 km) Running total:  2205.5 km

Another super stay at a hotel last night.

The girls are loving the hotel breakfasts, and this morning "G" actually wanted to mix it up by choosing Rice Krispies over Cheerios... it's an adventure, alright!!

We hit the road with Tinkerbell cued in the DVD player, a cooler full of milk and water and a bag of crackers and bananas.

Little "A" is turning into a wee bit of a monkey with the banana consumption.

They really are the perfect food, don't you think?

Complete with an easy-open biodegradable package.

And they are yellow.  Yes.  That matters.

Eli took turns at the wheel, as you can see:
Patchy-Patch is cruisin'!!
And Kid Doggie wanted his turn at the wheel too.

Watch out Canada!  (Check out the head band! Kid Doggie is never without it, and he has a band aid on his tail to commiserate with Little "G"'s poor little finger...)
We passed the Quebec-Ontario border.  Ontari-air-i-air-i-ooo!!
We made a wonderful random stop at a rest place where the girls picked orange flowers...
... and played with sticks...
... and rolled down the hills
A really friendly couple at the rest stop offered to take a family picture for us
The weather was perfect for driving with 'shades on.
And, of course, a cold snack!!
When we arrived in Kapuskasing, the girls were thrilled to discover that our hotel suite had bunk beds!!!

They almost couldn't wait to go to bed.
Somehow, they found the energy to make it to the pool!
Yes, these chickies have really settled into life on the road!
This is a map of our route so far!

It's been fun for the girls on the road, and it's so fun to see how naturally they want to explore and learn.

Maps are a real curiosity, and the girls watch the GSP on the front dash constantly, reminding Eli when to turn right or left.

Little "G" thought it was interesting that her paper map had red roads, but the "path" on the GPS was green.

They LOVE hunting for their hotel room.

Hitting the correct number on the elevator, and then finding the room digits on the door once we are on the right floor is a real adventure.

And, of course, with so much time in the car, time has taken on new meaning to them.
